Appendix is the most common and well-known issue involving the appendix. It occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed, typically due to a blockage caused by stool, a foreign body, or an infection. This leads to swelling, pain, and sometimes rupture if not treated promptly.

Symptoms:

• Severe abdominal pain, starting near the navel and shifting to the lower right abdomen.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Loss of appetite.
• Fever.
• Swelling and tenderness in the abdomen.
• Pain worsening with movement, coughing, or pressing on the abdomen.

Treatment:

• Surgical Removal (Appendectomy): The most common treatment for appendicitis is surgery to remove the appendix, either through traditional open surgery or laparoscopic surgery.
• Antibiotics: In some cases, if the appendicitis is detected early and is not severe, antibiotics may be used as the first line of treatment.
